Meet the Founder

Pastor James Lowe

UNITE was founded by Pastor James Lowe, Senior Pastor of Bethel World Outreach Church, out of a God-given burden to see the Church reflect the true heart of heaven. Pastor James carries a deep conviction that the Body of Christ is at its strongest when it looks like the Kingdom of God itself, where every tribe, nation, people, and generation worship together as one under the name of Jesus.

That conviction moved from prayer to action in the summer of 2020.

In the midst of a worldwide pandemic, during a season marked by uncertainty, injustice, and deep division, a mission was birthed. A call to action was made, and a great multitude responded. What began as a step of obedience quickly became a movement to unite nations, tribes, people, and tongues. True and lasting change began to take place in the hearts of many across the city of Nashville.

Despite the turmoil of that year, churches and believers came together to pray. We marched in unity. We walked in silence. We laid aside opinions and agendas, choosing instead to wait on the Lord and seek answers that could only come from Christ alone. In a time when the world was loud, UNITE chose prayer.

UNITE Nashville did not stop with the prayer walks. Under Pastor James’ leadership, the movement continued through intentional conversations and connection. Round table discussions were held with diverse people groups. Small group gatherings brought together citywide pastors, civil government leaders, women, and youth. These moments created space for listening, understanding, and healing, grounded in humility and prayer.

UNITE is strengthened by the collaboration of local churches who share the same heart for unity and reconciliation. Partner churches include Nashville Life Church, New Song Church, Southview Church, Unite Church, Cross Point Church, Bethel Clarksville, and Bethel Murfreesboro. Together, these congregations stand united in prayer, service, and mission, believing that real change happens when the Church moves as one body.

Pastor James’ vision for UNITE flows directly from the heart of Bethel World Outreach Church, a multicultural congregation committed to reconciliation, unity, and biblical truth. Bethel has long reflected the belief that diversity is not an obstacle to the Gospel, but a reflection of it. That same heart beats at the center of UNITE.

The mission continues beyond 2020 and into every year that follows with the same intensity and intentionality. UNITE remains committed to bringing about change through the power of prayer and the strength of unity. Prayer walks are not symbolic gestures. They are proven to result in transformation. For this reason, UNITE is dedicated to training and equipping believers for the ministry of reconciliation, built firmly on the foundation of prayer.

UNITE is not just an event or a season. It is a movement. A call to the Church to rise together, stand together, and believe together for the healing of our cities and the advancement of God’s Kingdom.

“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
- Matthew 18:20 (NKJV)
